CREATIVE STATEMENT

Much of my work centres around duality. Through drawing and painting, I explore visual connections between two modes of being: interpretation and experience. Using a coupled language evolved from deconstructivist and academic sensibilities, I hope to engage the audience by encouraging questions of what they are seeing. Many times the best questions have obscure answers. In Math While Biking, I explore the internal (interpretation) and external calculations when learning. The impossible task of math while biking combines two seemingly simple tasks into a web of complexity as our minds autonomously do to experience the world.

BIOGRAPHY

Sarah Campbell is a 2019 graduate of Angelo State University with a concentration in graphic design. After spending some time lost in a sea of math tests and business classes and with no previous involvement in anything art related, she changed direction and jumped head first into the art department and hasnʼt looked back. She is an artist who works in a variety of media, and though most of her work is digital, her passion for fine arts makes its way into most of her graphics. Her artwork is based around a strong sense of aestheticism with a focus on patterns and repetition, as well as combinations of biomorphic and geometric forms.
